Christmas greetings from Changchun
Christmas greetings from China just in time for the holidays. Actually, Anja wanted to sit down again at the weekend and write down our experiences, but now she has already done so on Christmas Eve. What happened during the last 2.5 weeks? We had a cat for 5 days. Anja found her abandoned in a box in front of Walmart and brought her home. We couldn't understand how you could abandon an animal at -10°. So she sat in her box and meowed pitifully. At home, Anja put her in the ba

Good news, bad news
Well, what's new to tell? Let's start with the not so good: Work Anja is not allowed to work for the time being! Background (as we understand it - you always have to make up anything plausible from all these Chinese stories): To be able to work in China, you need a work permit and a corresponding visa. Denny got a PU letter from his company. This is probably a kind of invitation letter, which was approved by the government. With this, he was able to apply for a short-term bus

Finally, we are showing signs of life again. Yes, you have had to wait a long time. We are sorry. BUT so much has happened again that we haven't had time to write. Here is a short summary: Trips to the surrounding area (again) Shopping in Chinese shopping centres First German party Moving into the new appartment Dinner with Denny's colleagues Let's start from the beginning: Moon Lake Of course we try to explore our new home in every free minute. Looking for an appartement in China
After we looked at about 14 appartments together in the first week, Anja went out on her own with the housing agent the following week. Denny has been working full time since 26 October. In the meantime, Anja has been shown 25 flats. There was really everything: From run-down and really dangerous: top floor with roof terrace - the railing was only hanging by "thin threads". To health hazards: the roof leaks and the whole flat is mouldy. Up to: 300m² in a luxury skyscraper wit

From Shanghai to Changchun
The days in quarantine are like two peas in a pod. Not even the weather outside the window brings variety. The same drizzly blue every day. We have tried to capture the highlights of the days ;) Day 4/15 - Anja can't sleep in the bed anymore, the mattress is too hard. Day 5/15 - We shot up our Amazon account - after hours of struggling and help from the customer centre, it's now working again. Day 6/15 - Denny has mood swings and is grumpy. He tries to get handle on it with

From Frankfurt to Shanghai
Still in Germany When we arrived in Frankfurt, our first stop after checking into the hotel was the corona test, throat swab... *gag*. However, we had the feeling that everything was a bit undisciplined in this corona centre. In short: Test passed, we are negative. And that means we can get on the plane on Monday at 5pm. At the Hilton at the airport, almost everything is not accessible to guests due to Corona, Denny had specially packed his sports stuff at the top of his sui

The Most Expensive Sticker of our Lives and Goodbye I, II & III
At the end of September, Denny and I went to Hamburg to apply for our visas. Denny is really precise about such things and sent our documents to the visa service in advance. We were told: "Everything fits; the date for 24 September is set". We drove to Hamburg in joyful expectation and had already arranged to meet in Potsdam in the afternoon. A sticker like that can't take that long... Conclusion of a loooong day: we had to fill out the application again (it said Berlin and n

Departure for China
Hello everybody :) Denny and I want to keep you updated when we are in China. After we decided to emigrate to China for a while in spring 2020, we have a long list of things to do: - Legalisations of all kinds of documents - health checks - Job search for Anja - what to do with our flat in Braunschweig - order a sea container - and and and.... Now almost all the points have been worked through and it looks like we will be getting on the plane at the beginning of October. We w
